Dean Meminger – Criminal Justice Reporter
Dean Meminger joined NY1 News in 1997 and in April 2011 was named the newschannel's Criminal Justice reporter.
As NY1's long-time Bronx reporter, Meminger was at the site of the World Trade Center after the 9/11 attacks and was in the thick of things during the Blackout of 2003. He was also a key reporter covering the police shooting deaths of Amadou Diallo in 1999 and Sean Bell in 2006.
On special assignment in Port au Prince, Haiti, in January of 2010, Meminger covered the relief efforts of New Yorkers after the earthquake that ravaged that country. In Mali, West Africa, in April of 2007, he covered the journey and burial of an African family tragically killed in a house fire in the Bronx. In December of 2007, Meminger traveled to the Dominican Republic to investigate how relief supplies from New Yorkers were helping residents on the island devastated by Tropical Storm Noel.
In addition to his work in television, Meminger can often be heard on the radio delivering morning news and commentary as an anchor and correspondent for 98.7 KISS-FM’s Wake-Up Club. He has also hosted and appeared on other radio programs for KISS FM, WNYC, 107.5 WBLS and Hot 97. Previously he also worked at WOR Radio as a part of the news team.
Meminger began his television career in 1995 as a reporter and stand-in anchor at Bronxnet TV (News 67). While at Bronxnet TV, he also produced and hosted the entertainment show "Bronx Magazine."
He attended Pace University in Westchester County, where as a senior he interned for the sports department at WABC-Eyewitness News.
