1968...Crowds gather at St. Patrick's Cathedral for the funeral of New York Senator Robert Kennedy, the victim of an assassin's bullet two days earlier in Los Angeles. Senator Ted Kennedy delivers the eulogy for his fallen brother, and the casket is then taken by train to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

1995...Mickey Mantle undergoes a liver transplant, 26 years to the day after his number 7 is retired by the Yankees. Doctors say the surgery, necessitated by years of alcoholism, has an excellent chance of success – but "The Mick" dies two months later.
