The Metropolitan Opera has reached a tentative deal with its stagehands union after contract talks continued through the night.

Now, it says rehearsals and pre-season preparations will continue without a work stoppage.

The institution also reached deals with musicians union Local 802, and the American Guild of Musical Artists on Monday.

It says it's still trying to hammer out agreements with eight smaller groups.

Final negotiations are expected to take place Wednesday, and the opera says it expects all of its union-represented employees to agree on a deal.

The president of Local 1 says the contract settlement will be presented to members for ratification.

If approved, it will allow for significant savings.

The new agreements are the result of six-month long talks between the Met and its employee unions.

The upcoming season of the Opera is expected to begin as scheduled, on September 22.
