The driver arrested in connection with a crash that killed a motorcyclist over the weekend was arraigned Monday on charges relating to the accident.
Police say Naisha Sutton, 25, hit Ronen Katz, 27, when she made an illegal left turn from Canal Street onto West Street in TriBeCa Sunday evening, then took off.
Sources say Sutton later turned herself into police.
She is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license.
Katz, who was riding a 2009 Ducati motorcycle at the time, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Friends and family are remembering him as a generous man with a successful career who was devoted to his friends and community.
"Aside from being brilliant he was so kind and giving. He was supposed to speak at a charity event he organized for needy children. He received an award from Supreme Court Justice O'Connor when he graduated from school and he was the best best brother," said the victim's sister Tamar Katz.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
