The High Line is one step closer to completion as the city has now acquired the final section of the elevated railroad the park was built on.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn say CSX transportation donated the final section.
It stretches west from 30th Street on 10th Avenue to 12th Avenue before turning north to 34th Street.
CSX was previously known as Conrail, which controlled the High Line before the park was created.
The High Line currently runs from Gansevoort to 30th Street on the West Side of Manhattan.
Construction on the final segment is expected to begin this year.
