A police officer shot a man in Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon after the suspect allegedly threatened a woman with a pair of scissors.

Police say it happened after the woman flagged down an officer on Fulton Street in Fort Greene to report an emotionally disturbed man in a near by building.

She then led the officer to the apartment.

Once inside, police say the unidentified man threw the woman to the ground and threatened to kill her with these scissors.

The officer then fired.

The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Residents said it was a scary incident.

"I am concerned," said one. "I have a teenager upstairs. She walks from home by herself. So yeah, it is concerning."

The woman was not injured.

Police have not discussed her relationship to the suspect. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
