A 3-year-old girl was found alone in a park in Manhattan Friday.
Police say the child was on a camp field trip when she was left unattended at St. Catherine's Park for around 20 minutes.
Nearby witnesses reported her being without supervision for as long as several hours.
"At 12:15, we saw a girl sitting on the bench over here crying, and then he went to her and asked her 'What happened?' and she said the camp left her here," said Golan Bramli, a witness. "At the beginning, she was a little bit worried, like, 'What's going on? Where is everyone?' But we tried to make her relax. We gave her ice cream. We talked to her. We let her play with the iPhone. So she kind of, I think, forgot the situation, that someone forgot her."
"She said she was left here by her teacher," said Omar Tejada, a witness. "She's been here over two hours now. The cops arrived. They checked the area, they checked the schools, and no school is claiming her, and nobody has came back in the park for her."
The child was later picked up by a teacher from a still unconfirmed school.
Police were seen leaving the nearby Cathedral Day Care on 74th Street.
NY1 has reached out to that school for comment but has not yet heard a response.
