Three people are in the hospital after they suffered injuries sustained in two separate shootings within blocks of each other Friday in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.

Police say the first shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. Friday along Nostrand and Jefferson Avenues.

Fire officials say a man was shot in the stomach and a woman was hit in the leg.

A witness on the scene said he heard seven shots and ran out to see the pair wounded.

"I walked across the street to the guy and started asking him questions, like does he live around here, what's his name," the witness said. "He wouldn't talk. He was applying pressure to his wound. We just told him, 'Hold on, we'll get the ambulance.'"

Police say both victims are in their 20s.

They are being treated at Kings County Hospital and are expected to be OK.

Fire officials say the second shooting took place on Jefferson Avenue near Marcus Garvey Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. Friday.

They say the 25-year-old male victim suffered three gunshot wounds to the torso and right arm.

He was brought to Kings County Hospital in traumatic arrest, according to fire officials.
