A stolen parrot named Cuca is back in its Bronx home with its owner.

Police say 53-year-old Darryl Walker followed 67-year-old Ana Marte into an elevator and up to her apartment in the Morris Housing Complex Monday.

Authorities say he pulled out a gun and stole the bird, which is valued at more than $300.

Marte said the robber had no interest in the jewelry she was wearing, just the bird.

She said the parrot is her only companion and that Cuca would wake her up and tell her to take her medication.

"I'm so happy that she's back. Thanks to everyone, police, the media, and everyone who helped me, all of you," Marte said through an interpreter. "I wouldn't give her away, not even for my children. Cuca loves me more than my own daughter."

Walker is being charged with robbery, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon.
