The Queen of Spain visited a school in the Bronx on Wednesday.
Queen Sofia stopped by MS 223 to celebrate an agreement with the Spanish government to provide help for Spanish learning classes.
The International School of Brooklyn and Southampton Elementary School in Long Island are also involved in the program.
The queen mingled with students and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., who was a student at the school in the mid-80's.
"The fact that's she's visiting my old school building is great, but it also shows that there's a recognition worldwide, not just nationally, but worldwide,” Diaz said.
"We want to have that connection with the Spanish government. We believe that it will help us provide resources to our students,” said Ramon Gonzalez, principal of MS 223.
MS 223 hopes to be included in the partnership with the Spanish government next year.
