A ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela at Yankee Stadium Tuesday night was postponed due to rain.

The event was planned to take place on the anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking baseball's color barrier in 1947.

The team will now unveil the plaque for Mandela in Monument Park before Wednesday night's game against the Cubs.

It celebrates Mandela's life and commemorates his visit to the old Yankee Stadium in 1990.

The trip came just four four months after Mandela was released after 27 years in prison.

During the visit, Mandela wore a Yankees cap and jacket and declared, "I am a Yankee."

Mandela died last December at the age of 95. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
