Nearly two years after Hurricane Sandy, the federal government this week approved a $1.5 billion package for transit repairs and projects to prevent damage in future storms.

And while the majority of the money will go toward repairs and improvements in New Jersey, including PATH train and New Jersey Transit facilities, some money has been set aside for storm-proofing the future Penn-Moynihan Station.

An additional $85 million will be dedicated to flood mitigation work at the World Trade Center site.
