After almost 50 years of serving the community, a well-known Catholic high school in Brooklyn is shutting its doors.
Officials from Nazareth Regional High School in East Flatbush say it will close at the end of the current school year.
They say a sharp decrease in enrollment over the past few years is behind the board of trustees' decision.
Staff members told NY1 that the school has a 98 percent graduation rate, but efforts to raise funding fell short.
"We want to be able to come back to the school, talk about our time in the school and how we feel about the Naz community,” said student Brian Perez.
“It's not all about money. They need to think about the students in the school, and about the teachers who have kids that they need to support at home," said student Carla Jusma.
Students will receive help registering at other schools in the area.
