“Inside City Hall,” an hour-long look at New York politics, can be seen on NY1 News weekdays at 7 and 10 p.m.

On last night’s “Inside City Hall”, former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Howard Dean offered his thoughts about the 2012 elections.

Watch a clip of the interview above.

Tonight’s guests include: State Senators Michael Gianaris and Jose Peralta -- whose seats could be on the chopping block because of redistricting; our Friday Reporters Roundtable.

INSIDE THE PAPERS

The New York Times

Michael Grynbaum writes: “As his administration faces a firestorm over a video shown to hundreds of police officers that depicted Muslims as extremists, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg conceded on Thursday that the episode had damaged relations between the city’s Islamic community and the Police Department. While the mayor defended the police commissioner, Raymond W. Kelly, who has apologized for the showing of the film to officers, he acknowledged that Mr. Kelly would have to work harder to improve trust among Muslims. The video, called ‘The Third Jihad’ was shown for months to officers receiving anti-terrorism training.”

Columnist Jim Dwyer weighs in on “The Third Jihad” controversy.

Russ Buettner looks at the difficult situation Manhattan D.A. Cy Vance is in as he investigates the rape accusation made against Greg Kelly, the son of the police commissioner.

New York Post

Erik Kriss reports: “Pay raises for state legislators and agency commissioners is just a matter of time, Gov. Cuomo hinted yesterday.”

David Seifman writes: “Mayor Bloomberg hung out with the cast of ‘Gossip Girl’ yesterday to celebrate its 100th episode while announcing that the city had broken all records for TV production last year. Officials said 23 prime-time series are currently filmed here, compared with nine just 10 years ago.”

New York Daily News

Blain & Lovett report: “Gov. Cuomo vowed to veto the Legislature’s redrawn district lines unveiled Thursday. ‘At first glance, these lines are simply unacceptable and would be vetoed by the governor,’ Cuomo spokesman Josh Vlasto said. ‘We need a better process and product.’ “

Blain & McShane note: “Gov. Cuomo’s new solution to save the state: Bet big on Big Blue. ‘Bet all your money on the Giants,’ Cuomo advised Thursday when asked about next weekend’s Super Bowl rematch against the favored New England Patriots.”

John Marzulli writes: “Jimmy McMillan thinks the final vote tally was too damn low. McMillan, the founder of the fringe political party The Rent is Too Damn High, is seeking a recount of the 41,000 votes the Board of Elections says he received in the 2010 gubernatorial election. The total is important because McMillan wants to get his party on the ballot in the upcoming presidential election in November, and candidates need 50,000 votes to be certified as a party with an official ballot line.”

Pete Donohue reports: “With the subways bursting at the seams, the MTA needs to expand stations in the century-old system, authority Chairman Joseph Lhota said Thursday. Lhota singled out the L line as an example of an overcrowded route that requires alterations to accommodate a meteoric rise in ridership due to industrial areas transforming into bustling residential neighborhoods.”

Wall Street Journal

Jacob Gershman reports: “A legislative proposal to redraw New York's political map—a once-in-a-decade event—drew a stern rebuke Thursday from Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who threatened to veto the plan that critics said was tainted by partisan agendas.”

Michael Howard Saul notes: “The federal investigation into city Comptroller John Liu's campaign fund-raising operation has complicated efforts to win approval of a proposal to alter the city's pension structure, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and a top union leader said Thursday.”

Have a great weekend. Until Monday.
