'Embark NYC' Wins MTA App Competition

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has announced the winners of its “App Quest.”
The grand prize went to “Embark NYC.” The app features trip planning, service advisories, interactive maps, and schedules.
It was one of 42 apps that were submitted as part of the competition, which began last July.
The winning design will now be available for all Android and Apple iOS devices.
"The most important thing to do is to keep our customers informed and as up to date as possible. That's the challenge that we have. We've decided to invite in the app community," said MTA Chairman and CEO Joseph Lhota.
A panel of judges evaluated all the apps in terms of quality of the idea, implementation, and potential impact on MTA riders.
The winners walked away with $5,000 along with several other prizes.
