The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is shutting down the Seventh Avenue subway line for four consecutive nights this week to make improvements under its Fastrack program.

The closures run from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday night through Friday morning.

All 1, 2 and 3 train service will be suspended between 34th Street-Pennsylvania Station and Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn in both directions.

MTA officials say the nightly closures will help maintenance work get done faster.

They said when Fastrack was introduced on the Lexington Avenue line last month, two months' work was completed in just four nights.

Riders on the Seventh Avenue line can expect to add about 20 minutes to their travel time.
