Cirque Du Soleil's new show "Ovo" has its performers jumping off the walls with excitement.

NY1 recently got a chance to see Swiss performer Michel Boillet and others practicing on the the new "trampo-wall" under the big top at Randall's Island.

"It’s much more fun than a normal trampoline where it’s really academic and the jump that we repeat all the time there’s really a new vocabulary in the tricks we can do and it’s really, really more fun," Boillet said.

"Ovo" is Cirque's 25th production, the 10th to perform in New York City and the first to be directed by a woman. "Ovo" is all about nature and biodiversity. Basically, it's a bug's life.

"There is so much to do with the insects. They fly, they crawl, they jump, they are colorful. So, 'Ovo' is a day in the life of a community of insects," said Cirque Du Soleil spokesperson Frederique Gagnier.

Ukrainian performer Anna Gorbatemko says the acrobatics in the show are the most challenging she's ever seen.

"I am doing the pyramid, hand stand, I work with four girls in my act and two of them pull me and catch me and I am flying," Gorbatemko said.

As for the popularity of Cirque Du Soleil, the performers say it goes back to some of our most basic instincts.

"I think it’s like every kid that’s jumping on his bed. It’s like the first way of getting in the air and it’s the easiest way and it’s the trampoline can bring us really high so I think everyone wants to do it," Boillet said.

Certainly the Cirque Du Soleil franchise has boosted interest in aerial arts and circus performance around the world. Even the use of the French word cirque instead of circus has become commonplace. And this latest production has all the spectacle Cirque fans are used to, hoping ticket buyers will make a 'bee line' to "Ovo."
