Jazz Marathon at Le Poisson Rouge

Bill Cosby emcees a jazz marathon with more than 30 musicians paying tribute to the late Dizzy Gillespie. It takes place Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Le Poisson Rouge in the village. It's a fundraiser for the Dizzy Gillespie Memorial Fund which helps musicians struck by catastrophic illness. Tickets are $40, $80 for VIP seats. NY1's own Cheryl Wills will introduce Mr. Cosby.

"Orange Alert"

As the security threat eases, check out "Orange Alert," a new play about life near the World Trade Center site. It's at the Algonquin Theater at Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport Thursday through Sunday starting at 7 p.m.

New York City Ballet Presents Balanchine

Friday night at 8 p.m. see the New York City Ballet perform an all Balanchine program with all tickets specially priced at $25 and $50. The evening will feature three iconic Balanchine ballets: Episodes, Apollo, and The Four Temperaments. There will also be a free pre-performance talk from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with NYCB dancers and artists

Friday and Saturday night is your chance to hear the unmistakeable voice of Basia. To promote her new live album she'll perform September 16th at the Highline Ballroom and September 17th at B.B. Kings. Tickets are $35 and start time is 8 p.m.

"Right Now!" feat. Nona Hendryx

Saturday night at the Harlem Stage Gatehouse, legendary musician Nona Hendryx from Patti LaBelle's trio "LaBelle" will perform in "Right Now!" an evening of music, film and spoken-word performance. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45.

"Gran Elefandret"
Anytime between now and next spring check out the upside down giant elephant sculpture at the Union Square triangle. The monumental bronze is by artist Miquel Barceló.
