Weeks after a labor lockout threatened its future, the New York City Opera began its 2012 season Sunday with a performance of Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Performances follow on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evening.
It is the opera's first performance since contract agreements were reached with the musicians' and singers' unions and a management-imposed lockout was lifted.
