The new thriller "The Next Three Days" was recently presented at a special screening at the Ziegfeld Theater in Midtown.
Russell Crowe stars as a man who will risk everything to get his wife out of jail.
George Whipple: What would you gamble it all for? What is that meaningful to you?
Crowe: Well, my family obviously. Same as the character in the movie.
Whipple: Could you relate to that? Could you really see yourself entering into to the underworld, do anything you could to protect your family?
Crowe: The question that you have to ask at the beginning of this film, the question that every audience member will ask is going to be, "What will I do in this situation?" That's a fascinating thing to go through, you know, this journey that this man experiences.
Whipple: And how would you have answered that question?
Crowe: Well, the list of things that I wouldn't do for my wife is a blank piece of paper, and I think that's why she married me.
That very, very lucky wife is portrayed by Elizabeth Banks on the big screen.
Whipple: Now, is it every woman's fantasy to be busted out of somewhere by Russell Crowe?
Banks: I think it probably is every woman's fantasy to be busted out by Russell Crowe. When we first started the film, he wrote me a nice note and the note said, "Don't worry, I'll get you out!" And I thought, "I bet he will," and he did.
Among those making a cameo is rapper-actor RZA, who plays a gangster.
"Well, in this role I get to play Moose, you know what I mean?" says RZA. "Really a character that I try to not be in my real life because that's something that we grew up in our neighborhoods living out of New York, you know, the projects in New York, you know how tough they've been."
"It's a good movie, and I'm hardly in it," says actor Brian Dennehy. "Look fast and don't reach for your popcorn, because you may miss me. But I'll tell you, Russell is the best actor that I think I've ever worked with. Amazing actor, powerful. That was a treat working with him."
"The Next Three Days" will be in theaters on November 19.
