A landmark Bronx theater is doing its part to tackle the hunger problem in its community.

The new management at the Paradise Theater in Fordham is running a canned food drive through November 21st, as part of the theater's reopening after a 10-year, multi-million-dollar renovation.

The theater used to regularly host concerts. The management is hoping to continue that tradition – saying the food drive is just one way to reach out to the neighborhood.

"We're opening the doors to so many diverse groups to have events here at the theater, so it brings it back to life,” said Denise Browne of the Paradise Theater. “It's going to make the theater thrive, which will make the community thrive."

The theater will give away the donated cans starting November 23rd.

Organizers are hoping to hold a food drive every three months.
