A vigil was held Tuesday night for the Bronx girl who was shot in the head while walking home from school earlier this week.

Friends and family of Vada Vasquez, 15, met at the site of the shooting to pray for her recovery.

She was shot Monday at the corner of Home Street and Prospect Avenue in Morrisania.

Police say a group of people began arguing nearby and shots were fired.

Her friends say they're now scared to be in the streets after school.

"All we heard was gunshots and we ran down to see what happened and we saw her there laying, blood surrounding her, and we ran up the block to get our principal and that's when we saw her again just not responding," recalled a friend of Vasquez.

Tyrone Creighton, 19, was also shot in the stomach and leg.

Sources say he was the intended target.

"This sick culture...believing you can only solve problems with gun violence has to stop, we are sick of it," said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.

"Whoever did this to my friend, revenge will get them. What goes around comes around," said a friend of Vasquez.

Both Vasquez and Creighton remain in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital.

Police are still looking for the shooter, who they say is about 5' 7" and between the ages of 16 and 22.

Witnesses say he was last seen wearing a black and blue hooded sweatshirt and a Yankees cap.

Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS, by texting TIP577 to CRIMES, or by going to NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
