Police officers from the NYPD's Toys for Tots Division teamed up with Santa Claus to put smiles on young faces at a Bronx school Friday.

Christmas came early for preschoolers at the New York Institute for Special Education in Bronxdale, thanks to old St. Nick and officers from the 49th Police Precinct, who brought along a sleighful of toys.

"I think a lot of the children really appreciated what we gave them,' said one officer. "A lot of the toys went specifically with certain children and I think they were overjoyed with what we did."

"It's just so exciting for them to see a police officer and Santa Claus and get gifts from them," said an onlooker.

The New York Institute for Special Education is a private, nonprofit educational facility for children who are emotionally and learning disabled, blind or visually impaired.
