A mother and her son were hospitalized Monday after being hit by a car in a Bronx crosswalk.
It happened on Broadway and 230th Street in Kingsbridge.
Police say a 41-year-old woman and her 4-year-old son were hit by a car going south on Broadway.
The driver, who remained on the scene, says he hit another car, which caused a street sign to fall and hit the child.
The mother and son were taken to Saint Barnabus Hospital where the boy is in critical condition.
"An accident waiting to happen. It's very dangerous. I almost got hit myself many times, many times," said one Kingsbridge resident.
"They need more crossing guards or a police officer standing here in the morning," said another Kingsbridge resident. "These people they don't care. They don't read. They don't look. They just want to drive through," said another.
Police say the driver is not facing charges.
