A long-time Bronx peanut plant that supplies peanuts to Yankee Stadium is packing up and heading for Pennsylvania.

The A.L. Bazzini Company, purveyors of peanuts, cashews, almonds and pistachios will head to Allentown in July.

The company has called the city home for 125 years.

It opened in Manhattan before moving to Hunts Point 13 years ago.

The factory's departure will mean the loss of up to 57 jobs, though the company says its distribution, accounting, and customer service departments will stay behind.

"I'm pretty nervous given the fact that I have a five-year-old son and plus I have to take care of me, him and my wife, so it's kind of nerve-wracking at the same time. I'm just hoping that God looks out and helps me out with the situation," said Bazzini Employee Sharif Hickson.

Company officials say tougher food safety laws are behind the move, noting the new location is larger and safer than the Bronx facility.

"It's a whole series of things that have basically will force more and more food companies to consider these issues," said A.L. Bazzini CEO Rocco Damato.

Damato says retro-fitting the current space would have cost between $35 million and $40 million.

All of the employees affected have been offered jobs at the new plant, though many tell NY1 they don't want to leave the Bronx.

"All my life I live over here in New York, right now we have to move, but that is very difficult," said Bazzini Employee Antoinette Tobar.

"We work here a long time, everybody here is like family," said Bazzini Employee Sheila Hardisomai.

The company's office and warehouse will remain in the Bronx, continuing to employ around 50 people.

The company says it will also continue to ship its peanuts to Yankee Stadium.
