Firefighters came to the rescue of a Bronx teen girl who was robbed and assaulted by a mugger late Saturday.
New York City Fire Department officials said the firefighters of Engine 90 were finishing a job on Holland Avenue near Pelham Parkway in Bronxwood, when the 15-year-old girl told them a man stole her gold chain, knocked her to the ground and ran off.
They radioed fellow firefighters John Hessler and Ronny Fuentes at the firetruck down the street, who saw the mugger and grabbed him.
The firefighters will be honored for their quick thinking by City Councilman James Vacca on Monday.
