State officials have reportedly rejected a parking plan for the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn amid complaints from residents.

According to the New York Post, stack parking will be scrapped at the arena's temporary parking lot.

Residents feared the time consuming process of using hydraulic lifts to park cars on top of each other would cause congestion by sending drivers looking for street parking.

The Post says the state has agreed to cut the number of mandated parking spots in half from 1,100 to 550.

A permanent underground lot is planned for Atlantic Yards but it is not expected to be ready for several years.
