City Council speaker Christine Quinn is demanding action amid allegations of sexual abuse at the elite Horace Mann prep school in the Bronx.

In letters to the Bronx district attorney and the head of the New York State Association of Independent Schools, Quinn says she finds the reports surrounding the Riverdale private school to be disturbing.

A report in the New York Times Magazine written by a former student says at least three teachers and coaches molested students between 1978 and 1994.

Quinn is calling for a thorough review of the cases. She is also demanding protocols be put in place for reporting abuse along with a support system for victims.

In her letter to Bronx D.A. Robert Johnson, Quinn says, "Although the reported abuse occurred many years ago, the fact that it continued for nearly two decades suggests a pervasive culture that allows such criminal behavior to occur."
