The Bronx Children's Museum celebrated its third annual Dream Big initiative Saturday with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, an accomplished daughter of the borough.

The justice was joined at the Mott Haven institute by Sonia Manzano, the actress who plays Maria on PBS' "Sesame Street."

A special performance was put on by Afro-Cuban jazz musician Bobby Sanabria.

"The Bronx Children's Museum has taken the initiative and been proactive in getting the young people of the South Bronx up to speed in terms of the history of the great, majestic history that the Bronx once had musically in terms of Latin music and jazz," said Sanabria.

"I'm an educator, I'm a teacher in Connecticut. I think it's a wonderful event. Anything that has to do with helping our youth is wonderful," said Miriam Gonzerelli, a cousin of Sotomayor.

Children ages six through 10 who participate in the Dream Big program create artwork relating to their own unique journeys.
