The NYPD is investigating a shooting death by police Friday afternoon in Queens.

Police got a call about an emotionally disturbed man holding a knife to his own neck in a home on 144th Terrace in Springfield Gardens just before 5 p.m.

Investigators say the officers told 27-year-old Walwyn Jackson several times to drop the seven-inch knife, but he refused. Police say Jackson then lunged at them.

An officer used a taser but it did not hit Jackson, who police say kept coming at them.

An officer then fired one shot, hitting Jackson in the shoulder.

He later died at the hospital.

The officer who fired the weapon was treated at another hospital for tinnitus, a ringing in the ears.

Police say Jackson also threatened a family friend with the same knife.
