The hunt continued Monday for a man who police say raped and robbed a woman in Brooklyn over the weekend.
The New York City Police Department says the man seen in the above surveillance video walked up to a 22-year-old woman just before 10 a.m. Saturday near East 27th Street and Glenwood Road in Flatbush.
Sources say the man told the woman he had a gun and should keep walking, but did not actually show a gun.
Police say he forced the victim into an alley, raped her, then robbed her before running off.
Sources tell NY1 he took the woman's cellphone, which he later threw over a wall.
Women living in the neighborhood who spoke with NY1 said they are afraid and are planning to change their routines.
"It's incredible, I live here like 20 years and this thing never happened before. It is shocking to me because I walk this path everyday to go to work," said one female resident.
"I never really thought anything bad could happen since it is an integrated neighborhood, It's just weird to think this would happen here," said another.
Two days after the attack, the gate to the alleyway where the woman was taken was still open. One woman who lives nearby told NY1 the alleyway leads to the basement in her building. She said she was surprised to hear about what happened, but not where it happened.
"I was afraid because I knew it happened in the basement area and it leads to a lot of different tunnels and different passageways. I'm always scared to do my laundry down there," said the woman.
The attacker is said to be in his mid-20s, bald, about 5-fee-7-inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has a medium build.
He was last seen wearing a blue Yankees baseball hat with a white brim and a dark gray jacket.
